Organizations throughout the Greater Des Moines area will now have access to Hurricane Electric’s vast global network

DES MOINES, Iowa–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone announced today that it has deployed a new Point of Presence (PoP) at Connect Des Moines Data Center. It is Hurricane Electric’s first PoP in Des Moines and second one in Iowa. This new PoP is located at 666 Walnut Street Des Moines, Iowa 50309.

Connect Des Moines is the Midwest’s carrier hotel and is built into a 25-story building that has 24/7 security. Additionally, their colocation services include N+1 power, 6,000 square feet of total space, private, secure entrance, build-to-suit, turnkey managed suites available, interconnectivity options available to carriers, cloud providers, fiber and wireless network providers, content providers and more.

Due to the city’s access to capital, many start-ups have been flocking to the Greater Des Moines area where they can also take advantage of the workforce coming out of the University of Iowa; and over the last ten years, tech companies such as Facebook and Microsoft have opened data centers in the Greater Des Moines area. Des Moines is also poised to become the new insurance capital of the nation.

Customers of Connect Des Moines, now have a variety of new connectivity options and access to Hurricane Electric’s extensive IPv4 and IPv6 network through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 Gigabit Ethernet) and GigE (1 Gigabit Ethernet) ports. Additionally, customers at the facility are able to exchange IP traffic with Hurricane Electric’s vast global network, which offers over 20,000 BGP sessions with over 9,000 different networks via more than 250 major exchange points and thousands of customer and private peering ports.
