Leading facilities conference offers workshops to explore how to manage disasters proactively with business continuity plans and the complementary skill-set of data center leadership

CHARLOTTE, N.C.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Critical Facilities Summit (CFS), a conference and product expo designed for mission critical facilities professionals, consulting engineers and design/build firms, today announced its two feature workshops. “The Disaster Experience: A Critical Facilities Workshop” and “The Intentional Data Center Leader” are complimentary educational sessions, included for all full-attendees of the 2015 Critical Facilities Summit. This year’s conference will be held October 5-7 at the Charlotte Convention Center.

“These workshops present a unique opportunity for attendees of the Critical Facilities Summit to share their knowledge and experience with facility management, while simultaneously gaining additional tools and best practices in managing a disaster before it hits through a simulated scenario”

The first offering of its kind at the Critical Facilities Summit, this disaster experience workshop offers a rare chance to explore the importance of a business continuity plan (BCP) in the context of a data center or other critical facility environment from the safety of the classroom. The experience will provide participants with an opportunity to implement the types of critical decisions their facilities regularly face, experience the benefits or consequences of their hypothetical actions, and discuss these results and other scenarios with their peers. The event will be held on Monday, October 5 from 12:00-2:15pm in room 208A and presented by Bob Mellinger, President, Attainium Corp.

In addition to this seminar, the Critical Facilities Summit also offers registrants a workshop on data center executive leadership, with a particular focus on how such knowledge can advance a career. This interactive session provides participants the opportunity to develop a strategic business plan for a data center and demonstrate the value of mission critical operations. The workshop will also be held on Monday, October 5 from 12:00-2:15pm in room 203B and facilitated by Timothy Oergel, PhD, Chief Academic Officer and Founder, AATC University.

In addition to these seminars, the Critical Facilities Summit boasts more than 30 sessions from six educational tracks for attendees to choose from. The conference will also welcome over 50 presenters to host these educational opportunities, each a leading voice in his or her field.

“These workshops present a unique opportunity for attendees of the Critical Facilities Summit to share their knowledge and experience with facility management, while simultaneously gaining additional tools and best practices in managing a disaster before it hits through a simulated scenario,” said Bob Mellinger, President, Attainium Corp. “The hands-on nature of the workshops heightens the importance of what attendees will be able to take away and apply when making their own management decisions.”
