Cobalt Data Centers Recertified For Multiple Industry Standards Of Operation

Cobalt Data Centers has announced that it has successfully renewed its HIPAA, PCI DSS, and SSAE 16 SOC 1 and SOC 2 (Type 2) certifications. Through a formal process of auditor examinations, Cobalt was certified on standards for physical security, network security, operational quality and system controls.

The Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) certification demonstrates that Cobalt’s operations are in compliance with HIPAA security expectations, including the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of electronic protected health information. This certification focuses on physical security measures available such as biometrics, 7×24 security, and best practices in surveillance at Cobalt’s facility to protect sensitive healthcare data.

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) for data centers qualifies Cobalt Data Centers for the protection of financial data associated with credit card transactions through both its physical and virtual security. PCI DSS was developed to ensure that data centers demonstrate a comprehensive security process for handling financial data including prevention, detection and appropriate reaction to a multitude of security incidents.

The third certification of the group, the Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) 16 Service Organization Control (SOC) 1 and SOC 2 (Type 2) validates that Cobalt operates its Las Vegas facility with an approved level of security, availability, processing integrity and confidentiality of its systems. This also includes the privacy of personal information. SSAE 16 SOC 1 and SOC 2 (Type 2) certifies that Cobalt’s operational excellence provides a safe, reliable environment for its customers’ mission-critical infrastructure.

“Cobalt Data Centers is proud to successfully renew certifications that ensure our organization is performing at the highest level for physical security, network security, operational excellence and system controls,” said Tom Stimmel, vice president of operations, Cobalt Data Centers. “Our confidence in Cobalt is supported by our certifications for what we offer our customers: operations of the highest quality that are relied on by corporations worldwide when selecting a colocation provider.”
