PR Potential and the November Newsletter

PR Potential and the November Newsletter

Share

We craft every monthly newsletter to offer a selection of items demonstrating our work in PR from the previous month. The tip covers an element of PR we’ve been thinking about. The client stories spread news about what they’ve been up to as well as highlight various opportunities for PR. The industry news items help keep us (and you) informed about bigger trends, and of course the upcoming events encourage networking and building connections all over the US.

For our November newsletter recap, this is a review of several items we featured, our thought process behind each piece, and the PR Potential of the opportunity.

ONE: Event

The first section of the newsletter can vary and we use it as a space to call attention to something out of the ordinary. November features a local event (happening tonight!). The Boston Data Center Community is a new and growing group. Milldam works with companies all over the nation (at times, all over the world) sharing news and expertise through various PR campaigns. Despite the ease with which global connections are forged however, we never forget the power of community. As such, the PR potential of this event is found in building local connections and learning more about the industries our clients work in, which is always helpful for content creation.

TWO: Article

One of our client articles this month was a feature by Data Center Knowledge about Hurricane Electric. This story presents a unique example of how PR has far-reaching effects. As is common in PR, the point of the article wasn’t strictly about the client. Rather, it focused on the Moncton, New Brunswick province of Canada and the strong telecom presence moving in and out of this region through a particular colocation facility. Hurricane Electric was noted, however, for having recently brought its global IP backbone into the facility there, Fiber Centre. By writing and disseminating a story about Hurricane Electric’s new location, we supported this bigger picture view of telecom trends in a particular part of the world.

THREE: Industry

The Los Angeles connectivity story about One Wilshire was one of our Industry news pieces this month. The article caught our attention for a number of reasons:

  • “Silicon Beach” continues to attract attention
  • One Wilshire is a household name in the data center and telecom worlds
  • It’s already a well-connected, established building – so we were intrigued why CoreSite is increasing its capacity

Essentially, CoreSite’s One Wilshire is a giant meet-me room in LA and they just announced that they’ll be upgrading their infrastructure to give the building up to 28 megawatts of additional data center capacity. As much as a third of all trans-Pacific traffic passes through this carrier hotel. Because of its power, any shift in operations for One Wilshire is interesting as, especially in this case, it demonstrates a continued need for better, faster connectivity options to support the surrounding tech communities in LA and beyond.
