This summer, we welcomed USC undergraduate students Olivia DiFilippo and Amanda Brooks to the Milldam Public Relations team. They have greatly contributed to Milldam’s client base and content creation.

Over the last three months, we have interned at Milldam Public Relations. We are both students at the University of Southern California and will graduate USC Annenberg School of Communication with a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations. Adam Waitkunas, President of Milldam Public Relations, has served as an amazing and welcoming mentor. We have learned so much from him and are grateful for his expertise and knowledge of the data center/technology industry.
Olivia’s Experience
I’ve learned an incredible amount throughout this whole experience. This summer has been integral to the development of my writing skills and taught me how to communicate with an audience I’ve never had to appeal to before. I was excited to put to use the tools I’ve learned in my university classes to write press releases, blogs, create media lists, and more. It felt as though I was making a real impact on the company and our clients involved in the technology and data center industries. Adam was also so helpful and placed a lot of trust in Amanda and me to create content for the website and social media channels to best reflect Milldam’s values. I appreciated being treated as though I was a full member of the team, not just a summer intern. My favorite part of this internship had to be seeing the press releases and other content I worked hard on published in journals and articles for industry professionals to see.
Amanda’s Experience
This summer, I had the opportunity to use my skills from USC and apply them to the real world. Before this internship, I didn’t know a lot about the data center industry. However, through writing press releases and blogs, I learned so much about companies such as Data Specialties Inc. and Green Revolution Cooling and their services. Additionally, Adam gave Olivia and I the freedom to develop our own social media and marketing strategies. It was amazing to see how we made a direct impact on Milldam’s clients. It was special to be able to work with another USC student. Olivia and I didn’t really know each other before, but interning at Milldam brought us together in a new way. Echoing what Olivia already mentioned, I felt like I wasn’t just a summer intern, but a full member of the Milldam team. Milldam PR is an intimate and friendly company that is very personable and warm. I have learned so many skills that I will take with me throughout my academic career. One of my favorite parts of this internship was creating the monthly newsletters. It allowed me to apply my creative skills while researching PR tips, industry news, and client updates. I am proud to have worked at Milldam this summer and am looking forward to the future and what more we will accomplish.
We are excited to continue watching Milldam grow as it acquires new clients. We will continue updating its social media platforms and growing its audience. Thank you to Adam for giving us the opportunity to work at Milldam Public Relations and be a part of this warm and welcoming team. As we continue our academic career pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations at USC, we will continue keeping in touch with the Milldam team!
