Hurricane Electric Extends Network to Central Virginia at The Pixel Factory Data Center

New Point of Presence will provide robust connectivity options for the Greater Richmond, VA area and its burgeoning tech sector

ASHLAND, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Fremont, Calif.-based Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone, announced today a new Point of Presence (PoP), in The Pixel Factory Data Center, a carrier neutral facility located at 9680 Atlee Commons Drive, Ashland, Virginia.

Located less than 20 miles from Richmond, VA, The Pixel Factory Data Center boasts N+1 redundancy and a fully redundant network throughout edge, core and distribution layers as well as diverse fiber routes out of the facility. Additionally, the facility offers a 24/7 monitored security system and the premises is monitored via a closed-circuit digital camera.

With the launch of Hurricane Electric’s PoP, customers of The Pixel Factory Data Center and others in the area will have a variety of new connectivity and access to Hurricane Electric’s extensive IPv4 and IPv6 network through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 Gigabit Ethernet) and GigE (1 Gigabit Ethernet) ports. Additionally, tenants at the facility are able to exchange IP traffic with Hurricane Electric’s vast global network, which offers over 20,000 BGP sessions with over 7,200 different networks via more than 185 major exchange points and thousands of customer and private peering ports.
