Future Facilities North America (Future Facilities NA), provider of engineering simulation software for data center design and operational planning, announced today that they will be presenting two educational sessions at the upcoming Data Center World conference: September 12-15 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Notably, CTO Mark Seymour will present an in-depth analysis on the metrics behind and application of The Green Grid’s Performance Indicator, released this July.
An active participant with The Green Grid who played an influential role in the development of the Performance Indicator, Mr. Seymour will be hosting a session titled Green Grid’s New Metric for Visualizing and Assessing Data Center Cooling Performance. The presentation will offer attendees further insight into the development of the Performance Indicator and the critical role it plays on effective data center operations. Mr. Seymour will lead a discussion on the Performance Indicator’s three key cooling performance metrics, which were developed to ensure that while the facility is saving energy it is also upholding its responsibility to protect equipment throughout the course of its entire life. He will also present a case study from his work with the new metric. The session will be held on Monday, September 12th from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in room R215.
Also presenting at the conference will be Jacob Bond, Engineering Manager at Future Facilities, who will detail the company’s expertise with engineering simulation. On Tuesday, September 13th, Mr. Bond will speak at a session titled Using Simulation-plan For Private Cloud Infrastructure in Small- and – Medium-Sized Data Centers (Case Study). He will be joined by John Parker, Disaster Recovery and Global Data Center Operations Management for Esri. The two presenters will be disclosing the results of a data center case study that examined the use of engineering simulation in small to medium facilities. The study was conducted at Esri, makers of ArcGIS, the most powerful mapping software in the world, and highlights the challenges of physically implementing private cloud at small to medium sized data centers. The discussion will also focus on how to plan a transition to private cloud using a simulation approach, which helps to eliminate uncertainty in the data center performance The session will take place from 9:25-10:25 a.m. in room R208.
