Effectively Implementing and Embracing Sustainability & Maximizing Your Property Value Through Meeting Tenants Demands
When: March 1
Where: Boston Harbor Hotel
Why: This is Bisnow’s inaugural Sustainability & Property Management event! Everyone knows sustainability is important — but what is the real value that it creates? What is the real impact of climate change on a coastal City like Boston? The program will also examine how to maximize property value through efficiencies in building operation while not only meeting, but surpassing tenant needs and demands.

It’s Leap Year. What Are You Doing With Your Extra Day?
February 29, 2016 is a leap day, which means this year is 366 days long instead of 365. If you are wondering why we have leap days, they were created to keep our calendar in alignment with the Earth’s revolutions around the sun. The extra day, February 29th, only happens every four years, which is unfortunate for the so called “leaplings” who are born on this day. Aside from that, there are some benefits to having an extra day of the year from a business perspective!
1. Leap Day, Cheap Day – Use leap day as an opportunity to offer a discount on your products for a one-day only sale. Update people on social media and use email blasts about the deal.
2. Reduce your prices by leaps and bounds – Working as a local promotion, have customers compete with a tape measure to see who can long jump the furthest. The bigger the jump, the bigger the discount. Consider charging people to participate and giving the proceeds to charity as well!
3. A day in the life of… – To generate social media and marketing content, run a competition where your customers send in pictures of themselves using your products and theme it however you want.
4. Leap of faith? – Create a writing contest for bloggers based around “leaping” and any of your products or services. Offer a prize for the best piece and publish all of them them as part of your marketing and blog content.

Golden Rule: Tie your campaign into your product or service –

Find a way to connect the theme of leap year, the services or products you sell, and the target audience to create a winning campaign!

PR TIP OF THE MONTH R
When to Send Out Your Event Press Release
As we prepare ourselves and many of our clients for the upcoming
Data Center World conference and other industry events, trade show PR is top of mind.
Getting ready for a trade show is a lot of work: setting up appointments with potential customers, preparing the booth, figuring out transportation and lodging, etc. If you want to make the most of your trade show before you even arrive, consider these tips for sending out a press release prior to an event.
1. Determine your press release goal, then base timing around it
Are you looking to spread awareness of your booth, a new product unveiling, or generate media attention about the event? In this case, send out the press release 1-2 weeks in advance to give the media and attendees time to fit your booth into their agenda. If you want to announce an award you received at the show, send the release after the event.
2. Keep travel time in mind
During the days leading up to the show, people are busy getting work done in the office and figuring out travel arrangements. Avoid sending out a press release during the time people will be getting ready for the event so none of the important information in your press release is overlooked.
3. Watch out for other big announcements
Try to avoid sending out your release when competitors are making their own major announcements. You don’t want your message to be overshadowed by someone else’s much-anticipated news.
4. Don’t be afraid to send out more than one release
In order to keep your company’s booth on the top of attendees’ minds, send out 2 or 3 releases with a variety of information to keep them interested in meeting with you.
