Hurricane Electric continues expansion into Canada

Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone, has further extended its global network with the opening of a new Point of Presence (PoP) at Wolfpaw’s Edmonton datacentre, located at Suite 301, Tower 2, 10060 Jasper Ave, Edmonton.

With increased network capacity through 100GE, 10GE and GigE service, customers of Wolfpaw’s Edmonton facility will be able to satisfy their high-speed IP transit needs, as well as realize lower latency and fewer router hops. Additionally, those same customers will have the ability to exchange IP traffic, or “peer,” with Hurricane Electric’s expansive global network, which is Jumbo Frame (9000 byte MTU) compatible.

Hurricane Electric employs a resilient fibre-optic topology, and has four redundant paths crossing North America, two separate paths between the US and Europe, and rings in Europe and Asia.

“With the opening of Hurricane Electric’s eighth Canadian Point of Presence, it is clear that the country’s telecommunications market is expanding at an impressive rate,” said Mike Leber, President, Hurricane Electric. “We are excited to facilitate that growth and provide additional connectivity options to Edmonton’s bustling technology sector.”
