Hurricane Electric is deepening its presence in the San Francisco Bay Area by establishing a new point of presence (PoP) at Digital Realty’s 365 Main facility.

By establishing this new PoP, Hurricane Electric will be able to address new opportunities with middle market and Fortune 1000 companies that are looking for new Internet connectivity services.

Similar to other new PoPs it launched, the 365 Main facility will support Hurricane Electric’s mix of 100GE (100 gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 gigabit Ethernet), GigE (1 gigabit Ethernet) and 100BaseT network connections.

In addition, Digital 365 Main customers will be able to get access to what the service provider says is improved congestion management infrastructure capabilities for the delivery of both IPv4 and IPv6 access services. They will also be able to exchange traffic with Hurricane Electric’s broad global network.

“The addition of a second PoP at Digital 365 Main represents both a strategic network expansion for Hurricane Electric, and also an opportunity for customers and networks in the San Francisco Bay Area,” said Mike Leber, president of Hurricane Electric, in a release.

Following the addition of a PoP at Telx’s SFR1 data center, the 365 Main facility is the second network expansion Hurricane Electric made this year.

San Francisco’s Bay Area is just one of several regions where Hurricane Electric is expanding its network capabilities. The service provider has launched similar initiatives in Charlotte, N.C.Boston and New York City.
