Complimentary mobile app allows network engineers and system administrators to analyze and view a variety of network functions in a single interface

FREMONT, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone, announced today the release of its latest network app, Network Tools, enabling users to analyze numerous network functions such as a server’s DNS records.

The free HE.NET Network Tools mobile app is available for iPhone®, iPad®, and Android™ devices. The app brings a range of networking tools to mobile devices in a single app, and may be downloaded by going to Apple’s AppStore and Google Play and searching for “he.net network tools,” or by going to http://networktools.he.net. The phone app contains a variety of functions, enabling users to gather and view data about their device’s current network state or a server’s DNS zone record, find the route packets take to reach their destination, and get information regarding domain registration, among other tasks.

Additional functions of the Network Tools app include:

  • Ping: Send ICMP packets to a single IPv4/v6 address.
  • Ping Sweep: Send ICMP packets to an entire subnet range.
  • Traceroute: Find the route packets take to reach your destination.
  • Progressive Traceroute: Get detailed statistics for a given route.
  • Port Scan: Scan a list of custom or pre-defined TCP ports on any server.
  • SSL/TLS Information: Check used protocol, ciphers and certificate information (iOS).
  • Whois: Get information regarding domain registration.

Best of all, the app is free of any advertisements.

To help users of the new app, Hurricane Electric has uploaded a short video preview of the mobile app and added a section on forums.he.netfor questions and discussions about the HE.Net Network Tools mobile app.
