California-based co-location provider Hurricane Electric has connected to six additional internet exchanges across eastern Europe.
Claimed to be the world’s largest IPv6-native internet backbone, Hurricane Electric has connected to the Budapest Internet Exchange (BIX), Balkan Internet Exchange (B-IX), Bulgarian Internet Exchange (BIX.BG), InterLAN Exchange, NetIX and the Romanian Network Internet Exchange (RoNIX).
Its expanded presence will allow the company to improve fault tolerance, load balancing and congestion-management infrastructure capabilities for the delivery of IPv4 and IPv6 services.
Mike Leber, president of Hurricane Electric, expects the expansion to allow customers of the exchanges in eastern Europe to benefit from Hurricane’s global network capabilities.
“Customers throughout the globe continue to demand greater internet options and Hurricane Electric is pleased to meet and exceed their expectations,” Leber said.
