New location will provide Midwest Telx customers with greater connectivity options

CHICAGO & FREMONT, Calif.–()–Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone and a leading colocation provider, today announced that it has established a point-of-presence (PoP) at Telx, located at 350 East Cermak, Chicago, Illinois.

“Hurricane Electric is thrilled to continue its long-term partnership with Telx”

Located in Chicago’s main data center hub, Hurricane Electric’s new PoP will allow carriers at Telx to exchange IP traffic (or “peer”) directly with Hurricane Electric’s global Internet backbone, and will provide access to Hurricane Electric’s IPv4 and IPv6 network through100BaseT, 1GigE, 10Gbps, and 100GE service. Additionally, this new PoP will enable Hurricane Electric to improve fault tolerance, load balancing and congestion management in its IP network services.

“Hurricane Electric is thrilled to continue its long-term partnership with Telx,” said Mike Leber, President of Hurricane Electric. “The bandwidth and reach of Hurricane Electric’s global network will reduce latency and router hops, while providing additional connectivity options to Telx customers in the Midwest.”

Hurricane Electric first deployed IPv6 on its global backbone in 2001. Hurricane Electric’s global Internet backbone is one of the few that is IPv6-native and does not rely on internal tunnels for its IPv6 connectivity. IPv6 is offered as a core service and every customer is provided IPv6 connectivity, as well as classic IPv4 connectivity.
