New PoP will give customers in South Atlantic States access to greater connectivity and increased bandwidth
CHARLOTTE, N.C.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone, today announced that it has added a new Point of Presence (PoP) at DC74, located at 3101 International Airport Drive, Suite 400, Charlotte, NC 28208.

The new PoP will enable customers at DC74’s “colocation campus” to experience improved fault tolerance, lower latency and increased network capacity through 100GE (100 gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 gigabit Ethernet), GigE (1 gigabit Ethernet) and 100BaseT network connections. Additionally, customers of DC74 will now have the opportunity to exchange IP traffic, or “peer,” with Hurricane Electric’s rich global network. The end result will be improved bandwidth, reliability, and congestion management capabilities at DC74.

An IPv6 leader for over a decade, Hurricane Electric first deployed IPv6 on its global backbone in 2001 and successfully circumnavigated the planet earlier in 2014. Hurricane Electric’s global Internet backbone is one of the few that is IPv6-native and does not rely on internet tunnels for IPv6 connectivity. IPv6 is offered as a core service and every customer is provided both IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity.
