SAN ANTONIO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Stream Data Centers, an industry leader in delivering exceptional data center experiences to global enterprise and hyperscale customers, has announced its ground breaking of a new 135-acre hyperscale campus in San Antonio, Texas. The campus will ultimately support up to five buildings and up to 1.5 million square feet of data center space, supporting 200 MW of IT capacity at full build. Construction of the first 300,000 square foot building is underway and is scheduled for occupancy in 2Q 2025. With this third data center campus in the San Antonio region, Stream is reaffirming its commitment to meeting the increasing demands of hyperscalers in Texas, and beyond.

Strategically located on West Military Drive and Loop 1604, Stream’s new San Antonio III campus is currently planned for up to five 40 MW AI-ReadyTM data centers. AI-Ready facilities feature a proprietary design that serves our customers’ near-term cloud and AI infrastructure needs while being uniquely positioned to support a transition to Direct Liquid Cooling with less disruption and cost. The new data center campus includes an onsite 334 MW CPS substation with outstanding access to important data center hubs in nearby Westover Hills and Texas Research Park.

“We are thrilled to announce the construction of our latest hyperscale data center in San Antonio,” said Paul Moser, Co-Managing Partner. “We are a Texas-based company with a 25-year history of serving customers in the state’s major data center markets.” Paul also stated that, “Building on Stream’s environmental commitment, AI-Ready facilities incorporate innovative design principles that make them even more efficient as customers move to liquid-cooled high density AI workloads.”

Key features of the new data center campus include:

  • Up to 200 MW of IT capacity across 1.5 million square feet.
  • 120 MW of IT capacity is available for new tenant deployments.
  • On-site dual fed “breaker and a half” CPS substation, with 2N configuration to each building.
  • Strategic location, positioned to support deployments in San Antonio’s major data center hub.
  • Use of closed loop chillers results in minimal water use.
  • Data halls designed to accommodate both air and direct liquid-cooled IT infrastructure.
  • Secure campus configuration supports tenant requirements for buildings with individually secured perimeters, or for the combination of lots on the parcel.
  • Robust network connectivity.

According to Oisin O Murchu, Vice President of Development, “Stream Data Centers is delighted to expand our relationship with CPS Energy, the City of San Antonio and Bexar County by bringing this fast, scalable campus to the market. Working with CPS and adding another campus to the two projects we’ve previously delivered in this strategic market will allow us to service the growing needs of our hyperscale clients. The City of San Antonio and Bexar County have been great to work with through the development process, we were able to break ground within months of acquiring the parcel and we are excited contribute to the economic growth of San Antonio. From an environmental quality perspective, we have been able to incorporate the natural features of the landscape into the site plan and retain existing trees and floodplain. The team at Stream is very enthusiastic about our new location and the outstanding opportunity to expand our business in San Antonio.”
