The Challenge
Milldam Public Relations was approached by a fashion designer that was new to the area and had embarked on a journey to open a high-end women’s clothing store. With no local network, she turned to Milldam Public Relations to manage the store’s official launch and garner publicity.
The Solution
Upon signing with the store, Milldam developed a three-pronged campaign that included a grand opening event, media relations, and community relations.
To ensure a successful event, Milldam utilized its network and formed a host committee of influential women in the area. Utilizing the women on the host committee, the boutique was able to leverage the women’s vast networks creating buzz and attention for the imminent launch and grand opening.
Milldam also developed a comprehensive media relations campaign that included local reporters, trade media and business publications. This also included inviting select press to attend the launch party/grand opening. One of the tactics Milldam Employed was to leverage a number of the designers featured in the store including Trina Turk, See by Chloe, Princesse tam tam and La Perla
Additionally, Milldam embarked on a campaign to engage local stakeholders, including political and business leaders. Making these introductions was key to establishing relationships as the store grew and expanded.

The Results
As a result of Milldam’s event planning, the upscale women’s boutique event was a huge success, attracting more than 200 influential community members, as well as numerous members of the press. Also in attendance were several community and business leaders.
Following the event, there were more than twenty articles across various publications, including women’s fashion, business, and local news outlets. As the store expanded and opened an Italian wine shop, the owner was able to benefit from the relationships established through community relations.
To ensure continuity, Milldam developed a long-term publicity plan for the boutique. Also, it launched several successful initiatives that included partnering with several charities around the holiday season.
