MCALLEN, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv4 and IPv6 global network based in Fremont, CA, has announced it has launched a new Point of Presence (PoP) at MDC’s McAllen facility extending its partnership with MDC Data Centers. The new PoP is located at 422 South 11th St., McAllen, TX 78501.
Hurricane Electric is pursuing an aggressive expansion of its global network, and it is committed to providing as much Internet service as possible to as many people as possible. In addition to increased network capacity through 100GE, 10GE, and GigE ports, MDC’s customers in McAllen will have access to Hurricane Electric’s vast global network which offers over 20,000 BGP sessions with more than 10,000 different networks via 280 major exchange points and thousands of customers and private peering ports.
The expansion into MDC Data Centers in McAllen, TX not only allows Hurricane Electric to tap into the neutral ecosystem where the majority of Mexican networks come for interconnection and peering but also enables them to meet the demand for increased connectivity on the border.
“We’re excited to expand our network to MDC’s McAllen data center,” said Mike Leber, President of Hurricane Electric. “With MDC the nexus of where Mexican networks interconnect, this is an important location for us as we continue to expand our global network.”
MDC Data Centers focuses on connecting the world with Mexico by providing carrier-neutral colocation and international fiber crossings in strategic hubs along the U.S. border with Mexico.
