New location for global Internet backbone will provide Northeast Florida with additional connectivity options for the proliferation of IoT
JACKSONVILLE, Fla.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Fremont, Calif.-based Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone, announced today a new point of presence (PoP), at GoRack, a carrier neutral data center located at 421 W. Church St, Jacksonville, Florida.
Located in the heart of Jacksonville, GoRack’s carrier neutral facility provides customers with a fully redundant data center that boasts SSAE16 Certification. Additionally, the hurricane protected facility offers the latest in security and is guarded 24/7/365.
According to a recent report, northeast Florida could become the nation’s number one economy, partly driven by the Internet of Things (IoT). For example, Bay Street in downtown Jacksonville could be one of the first streets to get the Ultimate Urban Circulator (U2C) autonomous vehicle.
With the launch of this PoP in Jacksonville, customers of GoRack and those in the greater Jacksonville area have a variety of new connectivity and access to Hurricane Electric’s extensive IPv4 and IPv6 network through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 Gigabit Ethernet) and GigE (1 Gigabit Ethernet) ports. Additionally, tenants at the facility are able to exchange IP traffic with Hurricane Electric’s vast global network, which offers over 20,000 BGP sessions with over 7,200 different networks via more than 185 major exchange points and thousands of customer and private peering ports.
