Case study to be presented at Datacenter Dynamics > Enterprise on March 15 and will unveil one of the first commercial applications of the Green Grid’s Performance Indicator

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Future Facilities North America (Future Facilities NA), provider of engineering simulation software for data center design and operational planning, today announced the presentation of a project that applied the Green Grid’s Performance Indicator metric through the use of a virtually modeled data center environment. Completed with the use of Future Facilities engineering simulation software, 6SigmaDCX, the case study will be explored at Datacenter Dynamics > Enterprise on March 15.

“We look forward to the discussion laying the groundwork for other companies to implement the next chapter in data center performance.”

One of the first commercial applications of the Green Grid’s Performance Indicator (PI), the global bank’s case study will demonstrate how engineering simulation can be used to plan changes for improved energy efficiency without threatening the uptime of mission critical infrastructure. The PI metric expands on PUE to measure PUE ratio, IT thermal conformance, and IT thermal resilience for an optimal operating environment. Titled “Citigroup/NYSERDA case study: Using engineering simulation as a tool to drive improved energy efficiency,” this presentation will be delivered at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, March 15.

Funded by NYSERDA, the energy efficient project utilizes Future Facilities’ 6SigmaDCX engineering simulation software. The software is a CFD simulation tool that allows users to build a “Virtual Facility” and test adjustments, configurations, or new solutions in the environment before making physical changes.

“Future Facilities is excited to continue playing a role in the development of this important data center metric that ensures operational excellence as well as improved energy efficiency,” said Sherman Ikemoto, Director, Future Facilities NA. “We look forward to the discussion laying the groundwork for other companies to implement the next chapter in data center performance.”

Future Facilities is exhibiting at Datacenter Dynamics > Enterprise and will be available to discuss the Performance Indicator at booth 60.
