Hurricane Electric Internet Services Opens PoP In Finland
The company has launched its first Point of Presence in Finland to provide customers of Digita Data Center with high speed IP transit connection.

Hurricane Electric has extended its global network to Finland with the opening of its latest Point of Presence at the Pasila Broadcast Tower, located at the Digita Data Center, Radiokatu 5B, Helsinki, Finland.

Digita Oy is Finland’s leading network operator for wireless communication networks. Centrally located in Pasila, Helsinki at the TV and radio transmission tower, the Digita Data Center offers reliable and robust data room facilities to a variety of businesses and features a highly efficient transfer network as well as best-of-breed fiber telecommunications. Housed within the hub of data communications in Finland, the Digita Data Center complies with the European Commission’s Code of Conduct on Data Center Infrastructure Efficiency (DciE), undergoing strict regulations and conforming to high international standards. The network management center has a secure power supply operated by a diesel generator or UPS system, remote monitoring abilities, robust access control systems and advanced security systems. Digita’s customers include TV and radio broadcasting businesses as well as mobile and broadband operators.

The new Point of Presence will provide customers of the Digita Data Center with access to Hurricane Electric’s IPv4 and IPv6 network through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 Gigabit Ethernet) and GigE (1 Gigabit Ethernet). Customers of the data center will also now have the opportunity to exchange IP traffic, or “peer,” with Hurricane Electric’s global network, which is Jumbo Frame (9000 byte MTU) compatible. The company’s premier dual stack network can deliver wirespeed 10GE IPv6 transit on the same port as existing IPv4 transit for seamless data transmission.

“We are excited to extend our network into Finland, a nation with an impressive background in digital infrastructure,” said Mike Leber, president, Hurricane Electric Internet Services. “This connection will provide customers at the Digita Data Center with direct access to Hurricane Electric’s rich global network as well as access to Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), helping them identify the shortest path for reduced network hops and faster traffic delivery. We look forward to strengthening our presence in this vital region and helping to meet the demand for high speed IP transit within Finland’s diverse business markets.”
