Hurricane Electric launches Saskatchewan PoP

Hurricane Electric has launched a PoP at Innovation Place at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada.

Innovation Place is a 1.2 million square foot facility spanning 20 buildings and supporting 118 tenant companies in the technology sector, and the launch is designed to provide tenants with access to Hurricane Electric’s global IPv6 internet backbone

“Hurricane Electric has always been committed to helping emerging technology companies succeed in an ever-changing technological landscape,” said Reid Fishler, director of carrier services at Hurricane Electric.

“We are delighted to provide the tenants at Innovation Place with direct access to Hurricane Electric’s rich global network and look forward to supporting their work as they continue to drive Saskatchewan’s economic development.”

These tenants are now expected to be able to satisfy their high-speed IP transit needs, as well as realise increased network capacity through 100 Gigabit Ethernet (100GE), 10GE and GigE ports.

Earlier this month, Hurricane Electric launched its eighth PoP in Canada, at Wolfpaw’s Edmonton data centre in Alberta.
