Hurricane Electric has enhanced its growing footprint in the Midwest by establishing two new Points of Presence (PoP) at Digital Realty’s facilities located in St. Louis, Mo.

The two PoPs are located at 210 North Tucker Boulevard and 900 Walnut Street.

At the 210 North Tucker Boulevard building, Hurricane Electric and its customers will be supported by a power architecture that delivers 3.9 MW of critical IT capacity and provides customers with multi-rack and cage configurations ranging from 2 kW to over 1 MW.

Both of these facilities are linked to one another via a dark fiber connection, giving customers an accelerated path to their data that’s housed in these facilities.

Hurricane Electric said that its latest expansion into the Midwest was driven by customer demands for improved fault tolerance, lower latency and increased network capacity through 100GE (100 gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 gigabit Ethernet), GigE (1 gigabit Ethernet) and 100BaseT network connections. Customers that reside at these locations can exchange IP traffic with Hurricane Electric’s broader network.

St. Louis is just one of several stops in its ongoing expansion tour throughout the United States and key Asia-Pacific and European markets.

Other recent network expansions include new sites in BostonCharlotte, N.C., and San Francisco, as well as expanding into 17 Equinix data centers in Asia and Europe.
