Hurricane Electric recently added a new location to their rapidly expanding global network in Boston at One Summer Street, reports FierceTelecom. From the article:
IPv6 Internet backbone provider Hurricane Electric has made Boston the latest destination on its growing global network journey with a new point of presence (PoP) at the One Summer Street data center.
By establishing this new hub at the One Summer Street facility, Hurricane Electric said it will increase the amount of connectivity options for its customers in both the Greater Boston area and throughout the rest of New England.
Besides offering customers a number of connectivity options–including 10GE, 100G, GigE and 100BaseT–this new PoP will provide improved fault tolerance, load balancing, congestion management and reduced latency in the delivery of next-generation IP connectivity services.
What’s more, customers that reside at the One Summer Street data center will be able to exchange IP traffic, or “peer,” with Hurricane Electric’s global network.
“With this new PoP, customers of One Summer Street will be able to connect to more networks directly, and with fewer hops,” said Mike Leber, president of Hurricane Electric, in a release.
Boston is just one of many cities where Hurricane Electric has been extending its network presence in what could be called a PoP build-out spree.
Over the past two years, Hurricane Electric has established PoPs in Copenhagen, Madrid, Milan and Vienna. In the United States, it established PoPs at the Phoenix NAP, at the C7 data center in Salt Lake City, at Neutral Path Communications in Rochester, Minn., and at DataCenter.BZ in Columbus, Ohio.
