Hurricane Electric was recently featured for their agreement with BICS and further expansion of their network in Europe. From the article:
BICS has signed an agreement with Hurricane Electric for the expansion of its network across Europe and the upgrading of its service to 100G.
Claimed to be the world’s largest IPv6-native internet backbone, Hurricane Electric will use the BICS pan-European network (PEN) to connect major European cities, and upgrade its services to 100G to meet the increasing demand for bandwidth in the region.
Hurricane Electric is connected to 75 major exchange points across the globe, and Reid Fishler, director of carrier services at the company, said: “BICS’ PEN 2.0 is the perfect solution to enable us to deploy high-capacity circuits between different European cities.
“With this agreement in place, our customers will benefit from faster internet connections between Hurricane Electric’s core routers in Europe.”
BICS owns and operates a 9,000km fibre network in Europe and the BICS platform will allow Hurricane to upgrade and expand with a flexible and cost-effective solution.
“Since the end of 2012 our pan-European network has been 100GbE ready,” said Johan Wouters, SVP of capacity business management at BICS.
“It allows our customers to expand their IP backbone network and interconnect bandwidth-intensive sites in a fully managed service model.”
Last November, Hurricane Electric notably increased its presence in eastern Europe by connecting to an additional six internet exchanges in the region.
