Highly respected and influential data center pioneer created standards that are now the foundation for the data center industry
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Upsite Technologies, Inc., a leader in data center airflow management solutions, today announced with deep regret that its founder, Kenneth Brill passed away on July 30, 2013. Mr. Brill founded Upsite Technologies in 2001.

Mr. Brill’s thought leadership in the data center space over the last thirty years has led to increased efficiency and higher performing data centers, earning him respect across the industry. Even as new technologies came to market, Mr. Brill continued to challenge the industry to come up with a better solution for data center operations and efficiency.
Described as brilliant, curious, independent and unyielding, Mr. Brill worked throughout his career to promote data center uptime and IT energy efficiency. Mr. Brill’s constant passion for data center efficiency led him to create a number of data-center innovations, such as the industry’s widely-adopted tiered system for evaluating and classifying data center availability levels.
Mr. Brill has also been recognized by the Uptime Institute Symposium and the British Computer Society, and has been published in Forbes, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. Additionally, Mr. Brill was awarded an honorary PhD from the University of Redlands.
In addition to founding Upsite Technologies, Mr. Brill founded the Uptime Institute, a leading authority dedicated to improving data center performance and efficiency through research, collaboration, innovation and education. Mr. Brill also co-founded the Uninterruptable Uptime Users Group, now known as 7X24 Exchange International.
