Future Facilities’ software makes an appearance in a Data Center Journal posting. From the article:
Future Facilities, global leaders in 3-dimensional CFD simulation for data center design and operational management through its 6SigmaDC DCIM software suite, has announced the addition to its equipment library of 5-star rated models for the complete range of Fujitsu PRIMERGY servers.
Since its inception in 2004, Future Facilities has pioneered the use of CFD modeling for assessing the impact of data center equipment moves and additions prior to any work being physically carried out. The Future Facilities model – or Virtual Facility – is mathematically accurate representation which depicts the logical and physical attributes of the data center, allowing future plans to be assessed in order to mitigate risk, increase efficiency and eliminate lost capacity.
The accuracy of the Virtual Facility is dependent upon the quality of and quantity of data provided by equipment manufacturers. Future Facilities grades equipment models from 0 to 5 stars for maximum fidelity. The accuracy of the data must be vendor certified in order to achieve a 5-star rating. Where simpler models are involved, actual values will be measured in the data center to ensure accuracy for decision making purposes.
“The data center end-user is increasingly becoming more aware of the importance of fine detail as they work to achieve high efficiency goals,” said Dan Richards, Technical Data Analyst, Future Facilities. “The high level of information provided by Fujitsu is good news, and demonstrates their intention to help data center managers to build and operate their facilities more efficiently.”
