Hurricane Electric Connects to New Continent with PoP in South Africa

Rob Powell’s “Friday Bytes” this week, on Telecom Ramblings, features Hurricane Electric for its newest announced Point of Presence (PoP). This connection is particularly notable for being HE’s first in Africa, at Teraco’s Isando JB1 facility in Johannesburg, South Africa. From the article:

Here’s a quick rundown of some other news from this week that’s worth a quick look:

 

Hurricane Electric has found a new continent to expand its IP backbone into. They are expanding into South Africa, adding a PoP in Johannesburg at Teraco’s Isando JB1 facility. HE has been steadily adding PoPs around the world both for IPv4 and IPv6, the latter of which they have been at the forefront of for many years. This is their first PoP in Africa, but given the positive effects of all the investment in submarine cables to the region, they probably have additional locations on the drawing board.
