                     THE MILLDAM MONTHLY
                                 April/2016
Welcome to the April edition of the Milldam Monthly. Everyone in the PR industry knows the importance of being as detail-oriented as possible and this month’s newsletter emphasizes the attention needed to build your business in a few different ways:
  • Our PR tip outlines some ideas for modernizing your social media strategy, including updating the details and content necessary for an active and engaging profile.
  • The Human Interest piece profiles Apple; a company that has stayed on top of its market by being attentive to the details consumers demand in their top-of-the-line products.
  • Our clients are actively publishing articles, releasing product, expanding into new locations, and more – all elements dependent on their attention to trends in the data center and critical facility industries (and our detailed attention to what makes compelling stories!).
Not a month goes by, it seems, without our attendance at one event or another! April brought Milldam to DataCenter Dynamics in New York City as well as a WHIR event in Los Angeles, CA.
Clients RF Code and Future Facilities exhibit at DCD NYC.
The LA WHIR event draws a large crowd!
As always, if you are looking for PR advice or have questions regarding marketing strategy, please feel free to reach out. In the meantime, follow us on our social media channels to stay informed about what Milldam Public Relations and our clients are up to.

PR TIP
Spring Cleaning for Social Media
Ahhh, spring is here. April showers are coming to an end and May flowers are ready to bloom. If the arrival of warm weather urges you to purge old clutter and reorganize your home, why not give your social media channels the same fresh start? Coming after the winter holidays but before the dog-days of summer, April is a perfect time to give your social media channels a squeaky clean revival.
4 Tips to Refresh Your Social Media:

1. Quit being a slacker:

Create a content calendar so that you have articles or topics strategically ready to be posted throughout the month while avoiding a mad scramble when deadlines are looming. Start the spring season with a calendar that will keep you in-check and on-time all year!

2. Time for a deep clean:

Make social media goals, review your pages, unfollow and follow when needed, update that profile picture or cover photo. *Personal Pro Tip* use the same personal avatar on your social sites as your Gmail account, so connections can easily recognize you.

3. Get to be buddies with your analytics:

Review your analytics: what is your audience engaging with, who is your audience, where do they come from? The answers will help you put together the content that will continue to drive interest for current followers while also gaining more of the followers you hope to engage.

4. Get to reading:

Spend time each week reading articles, watching videos and attending webinars. Its always important to stay up to date with the latest trends in your field and learn something new each week. The Internet is always flowing with new material!

Happy 40th Birthday, Apple!
Apple has hundreds of millions of customers actively using more than a billion of its products. Today, Apple is the most valuable company on the planet. With the corporation hitting its 40 year milestone, we can’t help but look back into the company’s past and wonder what’s in store for the tech giant next.
Apple introduced us to the Macintosh computer in 1984 with the mission to create “bicycles for the mind.” In 1997, we saw the return of Steve Jobs who urged people to “Think Different”as the company was on the verge of bankruptcy. In the early 2000’s we watched Apple launch the iPod, iTunes store, iPhone, iPad, and its retail store.
Today at age 40, what direction will Apple take for the future? Recently, iPhone sales, which helped Apple report the biggest quarterly profit of any company, have been slowing. Minor upgrades to the iPhone and the recently introduced Apple Watch and Apple Pay may not be enough to keep sales afloat.
In order to stick around for the next 40 years, Apple may look into expanding to new areas, such as smart home technology, healthcare and the auto industry. We hope to see Apple continue to grow and develop new technologies that change the future!
