HUMAN INTEREST
Halloween in the Workplace
Dressing up in costumes, indulging in treats, and spooking some of your co-workers; Halloween in the office can be super fun — if done right.
Follow these quick tips so your next office Halloween party doesn’t turn into your own personal horror film:
Make scares more festive than freaky: Have some fun but don’t spook your colleagues too much.
Try leaving a bowl of candy on your desk for co-workers who are feeling like Trick-Or-Treaters. A few festive decorations never hurt anyone either!
Opt for office-appropriate costumes: There are still meetings to attend and that uncomfortable commute, so don’t wear anything that will distract you from getting your work done.
Besides the comfort factor, you also want to make sure that you don’t offend anyone with your get-up. Unless you want to debate about immigration all day, maybe you should hold off on the Donald Trump wig you bought until after work!
Don’t be a party monster:
Try to take it easy on the witch’s brew so you don’t do or say something that will haunt you later on! Like with all office parties, remember that these are your co-workers and that you need to maintain a certain level of professionalism among the shenanigans. Anything you say or do can affect how you are viewed as an employee. Be respectful and have fun!

PR TIP OF THE MONTH R
Stars of Social Media
Companies constantly struggle with social media. Most of the time they aren’t using it properly and become frustrated when their posts are ignored. If you want to stop your followers from falling asleep,
 seek the help of c
elebrities. Stars like Beyonce and Taylor Swift are known for harnessing the power of social media as a way to enhance their career.

Here are five strategies celebs use to keep their fans engaged which also apply to the corporate world:
1. Recognize that every platform is different: Many companies use more than one social site and replicate the same message across all platforms, even though they all have different attributes. Using a different approach for Instagram (where pictures are the focus) than your Twitter (where brevity in messaging is key) will keep your followers interested in what you have to say.
2. Don’t Disappear: Posting frequently on social sites is key to ensuring that your followers don’t forget about you. The more consistent you are with posting, the more interaction you will receive.
3. Keep tabs on your followers: Make sure to “like”, share or comment on your followers’ posts. If someone mentions your brand, respond generously so they know that you care. A little bit of love can go a long way.
4. Don’t be overly promotional: Instead of pushing followers to buy your product, speak about related current events in your posts to capture their attention. Maybe even throw in a “Throwback Thursday” every once in a while! (
One of our favorite social strategies)
5. Craft a narrative: In the case that your company must respond to a controversy or bad news, generate a creative message for your customers through social media to help repair the damage. While press releases and website postings help, often a well crafted narrative is the fastest way to administer damage control directly to your customer base.
