Hurricane Electric expands with new PoP at iM Miami

Fremont, California-based Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone, has announced that it has added a second PoP in Miami at iM Miami’s downtown datacentre. Located at 36 NE 2nd Street, iM Miami, also known as Interconnect Miami occupies the 5th floor of the Digital Realty building.

Operating in downtown Miami with its own dark fibre metro loop, iM is carrier-neutral and heavily focused on expanding its interconnection with Latin America and the Caribbean. With 11,000 sq ft of colocation space, the facility is housed within a Category 5 Hurricane-rated building.

With the addition of Hurricane Electric’s newest PoP, customers of iM and others at 36 NE 2nd Street will now have the option for increased network capacity through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 gigabit Ethernet), GigE (1 gigabit Ethernet) connections. Additionally, these customers now have the opportunity to exchange IP traffic, or “peer,” with Hurricane Electric’s comprehensive global network.
