As part of a complete facility renovation, Insports opted to improve its facility with an LED lighting retrofit designed by Bluestone Energy

TRUMBULL, Conn.–()–Bluestone Energy Services, LLC, a leader in energy conservation engineering and project development services for a variety of sectors including industrial and retail, announced today that it has helped Insports, one of Connecticut’s largest indoor sports and entertainment facilities, install an energy savings lighting retrofit as part of an overall facility renovation.

“Our collaboration with Bluestone will significantly improve our environmental footprint and will increase the lighting quality for our customers”

For the project, Bluestone replaced T5 fluorescent fixtures at the Trumbull, Conn facility with Albeo™ ABHX LED Luminaires, a lighting solution distributed by GE Lighting. The photometrically designed LED lighting project will increase light levels in the space, improving on-field visibility, while strengthening Insports’ commitment to sustainability.

Additionally, Bluestone designed an advanced controls solution enabling Insports to fine-tune lighting levels based on occupancy, scheduling and day-lighting. The controls solution will also allow Insports to monitor overall energy performance of the lighting in the facility. The project qualified Insports for the Energy Policy Act 2005 Federal Tax benefit.

“Our collaboration with Bluestone will significantly improve our environmental footprint and will increase the lighting quality for our customers,” said Peter Corbett, President and CEO of Insports. “We are dedicated to running a high-quality facility in all aspects of its features, and this LED lighting retrofit reflects Insports’ commitment to sustainability and our customers.”

“We’re pleased to have had the opportunity to work with a forward thinking company like Insports that is focused on sustainability,” said Ryan Blair, President of Bluestone Energy. “The LED lighting retrofit will not only improve the quality of life for Insports’ patrons, but will lower energy costs for years to come.”

In the coming months, Insports will be installing an Encon Solar 250kWh solar system on its roof that will provide approximately 60% of its power needs. Insports will also be installing a new building wrap system that will double its insulation value and dramatically reduce its energy consumption for heating and cooling.

In addition to the state-of-the-art LED lighting and air circulation systems designed and implemented by Bluestone and Encon Heating & Air Conditioning, Insports installed top-of-the-line playing surfaces during the renovation.

Insports is dedicated to providing an exceptional facility to promote health, wellness and safety for its athletes, players, and guests. Along with premier athletic and facility amenities, Insports also remains committed to its environmental impact, leading to their collaboration with Bluestone. “Our facility will be one of the first to incorporate all of the latest energy saving technology that will reduce our carbon footprint while creating the optimal playing and viewing environment for our participants and spectators,” added Peter Corbett.
