Project for The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company substantially reduced energy consumption and provided an investment payback period of less than two years

NORWELL, Mass.–March 14, 2012()–Bluestone Energy Services, LLC, a division of OpTerra Energy and a leader in energy conservation engineering and project development services for industrial and commercial clients, announced today that a comprehensive energy project it completed on behalf of The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company has been recognized as the Best Multi-site Retail Energy Program in New England by the Association of Energy Engineers New England (AEENE).

For the project, Bluestone Energy’s Supermarket Division implemented a range of comprehensive energy improvements – including installing electronically-commutated motors (ECMs) and replacing lighting fixtures with energy-efficient LEDs – at multiple grocery stores and distribution warehouses. Over a four-year period, the project saved 46 million kilowatt hours while securing four million dollars in local utility incentives. On average, each improvement’s energy savings paid back its investment in less than two years.
